Confessions of a Worrier.......
I must admit, from to time, I tend to worry a bit too much about things (and that's putting it lightly). It's in my genes. I come from a long line of worriers. You name it, and I have worried about it. Following are just a FEW (and I stress "Few") examples:
On a Personal Level...
My Kids/Husband.
Finances.
Relatives.
Job Security.
The Cars.
The House.
The Garden.
The Dog.
My Appearance.
The Weather.
Safety and Security.
Getting Lost.
On a Broader Scale...
World Hunger.
War.
Dictatorships.
Human/Civil Rights.
Natural Disasters/Devastation.
Orphaned Children.
The World Market.
I used to feel that being the consummate worrier that I am, was maybe a good thing. It meant that I took things seriously. That I was cautious and therefore well-informed before going forth. That maybe fear was an asset because it helped me to make better/safer decisions.
Unfortunately, I have also realized that by being so worrisome, it has caused me to miss/forfeit opportunities. To hold back on taking some chances. To stunt my growth in certain areas of my life, and worst of all, to develop an anxiety issue.
Being anxious because of worry is never a good thing, unless you are considering jumping off the roof of a building, etc.
In knowing this about myself, I have made efforts in order to control my worry/anxiety/fear. I have to be constantly mindful of that little voice that enables me to dwell, causes me to lose sleep, and stops me from the spontaneity that is sometimes required in life.
I share this with you, dear reader, because I know that I am not the only one who has a difficult time with these issues. To let you know that I can empathize with you. To hold your hand while walking the fine line between realistic caution and concern, and over exaggerated worry and anxiety.
Peace of Mind comes with being able to balance these emotions, moving forward with confidence and care.
Quick.....Make A Wish!
We all have something(s) we wish for.
We should all hold hope dear.
We all need to look up now and then.
We all seek Peace of Mind.
Go ahead, this wish is on me!

Life Intentions, a funny thing happened...........
Sometimes, no matter how focused and driven we are, we end up finding ourselves in situations that we would have never imagined ourselves being in, while wondering how in the heck we ended up there.
It's as though all of our efforts were done in futility.
But wait.
It's alright.
And please do not be disappointed in yourself.
There could be many reasons why your journey has taken a left in stead of right (and visa-versa) turn. You may become aware of some of them sooner rather than later. And others will not show themselves but in an epiphany or two (or three and so on) much later on.
We must learn to accept these situations in faith, that maybe there are other forces around (based on your belief system) that have guided you to this place in life, in order to serve a greater purpose for yourself and in some instances, for those around you.
With this acceptance comes the Peace Of Mind that is needed to relax and enjoy this place that we find ourselves in, even though, we may have never intended to be here.

Come Fly with Me.......
SET YOUR SIGHTS HIGH!
ALWAYS LOOK UP!
LOOK FOR THE SILVER LINING!
THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!
KEEP YOURSELF OPEN TO THE MESSAGES FROM ABOVE!
IT'S ALWAYS DARKEST BEFORE THE STORM..........
MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE PEACE OF MIND IN KNOWING THAT STORMS HAVE AN END AS WELL AS A BEGINNING. MAY YOU WEATHER THROUGH THEM ALL WITH GRACE AND COURAGE.
BE WELL. BE OPTIMISTIC. BE STRONG.

Sometimes, it's just best to let go........
After all avenues have been exhausted.
After you have put forth all of your efforts.
After you have sacrificed.
After you have comprised.
After you have given more than you maybe should have.
After you have taken more than you should have.
After you have fallen one to many times.
After you've been hurt for far too long.
After you have lost sleep.
After you have dried your last tear.
After you've come to the conclusion that this will never work out.
Wash the weight of the world from your shoulders.
Then, you will be able to walk in the light of the peace of mind that you so deserve.
You have not failed.
You have decided to save yourself, which is not a crime.
On the contrary, it's a gift.
In the end, you are the one who has the power to rescue yourself from yourself.

Quotes....
And herein lies the meaning of legacy for the good, for all that follow.
It is what we leave behind that is most important.
It is who we have loved that will last throughout eternity.
It is how we have treated others that will leave the impression of empathy and compassion.
It is the lessons we teach our children and those we mentor, about how to be a positive influence to all of those we encounter, that will be perpetuated.
It is the wisdom and knowledge we accumulate and share, that the generations, moving forward, will then put forth to enlighten future mankind.
All these things give me peace of mind for when my time comes to leave this earth and I move on to the next enlightened path.
Be light. Be love. Be everlasting.
For You......
Have peace of mind in knowing that you can show this sign figuratively as well as literally.
Be Happy. Be Love. Be Nice.

Be Authentic....
I've also always had a deep sense of being different from the norm. Yet, instead of feeling isolated because of it, I've instead felt special and blessed. This is who I am and I embrace my being. I enjoy being different from everyone else. I enjoy not fitting into any sort of molds. I enjoy being the unique individual that I am.

Thoughtful Thoughts.....Empower Yourself.............
They say that you teach others how to treat you, and therefore must take some responsibility for those who treat you badly.
I believe this to a most valid assumption.
You,dear reader, must choose to embrace the power which you posses.
If you look close enough, you will find that you do have choices and options.
I wish you the strength to make these decisions with the love for yourself that you need and deserve.
Have peace of mind in knowing the you will always have the most power over you than anyone else does.

Balancing Acts.......
I'm still in the midst of this give and take phase. I know my children will thrive and most probably turn out to be fine, but I only hope that I will survive this particular journey.
You see, dear read, I'm quite attached to my children as I'm sure many of you are, and the thought of them not being here with me always, is hard for me to wrap my thoughts around. I know reality will kick in soon enough and the fruits of my child rearing labor will ultimately come to fruition.
And yes, logic tells me that this is what is supposed to happen, and that the Universe will be better off as a whole for it. I guess that last thought is what gives me peace of mind. The knowing that they will be contributing great kindness, love and empathy to all that they encounter, throughout their lives.
And in this, I will know full and true pride.

For You....
A Gift of Survival........
After surviving an Earthquake and a Hurricane this week, thought I would share with you, dear reader, some beautiful rainbow roses. I do hope you enjoy them.
They seem to be symbolic in a few of ways. First, they are beautiful, which is what each one of us are. Second they are unusual, which all of us are. Thirdly, they seem to be miraculous because of their rarity, which we all are; miracles.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you have have suffered any type of loss during this crazy week of what seems like Mother Nature's Wrath. Hoping you can find some peace of mind sooner rather than later.

Inspiration is a funny thing.................
Since my last, full blown post on the 27th of July, I have been a bit distracted and therefore have not made one since. In the mean time, I've been publishing short posts (Quotes & 'Thoughtful Thoughts'), for you, dear reader, in order not to be neglectful.
For me, when stressed, my body and mind are out of sync. Therefore, not only is my sleep disturbed, but my creativity and appetite are also suppressed. I do not like feeling like this. It's as though my inspiration is being thwarted in it's ability to flow through me.
The funny thing is though, as I look back at my short blog posts, I realized that inspiration has been coming to me, just in small unrecognizable doses. Hence, the Quotes and 'Thoughtful Thoughts'.
Once I realized this, I have felt the creative juices flowing more freely and have started a couple of fun house projects that I have been putting off. And guess what? I am now writing this blog post!
I am quite sure that I am not the only one who feels the drought of lack of inspiration and creativity when under stress. My intention for this particular post is not only to empathize with you in this state but to also share with you the bit of awareness that I have just realized.
The fact that I felt uninspired was misleading, in a sense. For there where signs all around me, but my eyes/heart/soul could not see them from the angle in which I was viewing them. Once I stepped back a bit and changed my perspective ever so slightly, there it was, ready and waiting.
I am not whole unless I am able to be creative. I have an incessant need to put forth inspiration. Whether it be for just myself or for those around me, or for you, dear reader. As a matter of fact, my entire blog is intended to inspire a peace of mind through harmony and balance, given to you through my own life experiences. And in return, I am enriched by this life's journey/circle in reaching out to you.
Distractions can be so very cumbersome when trying to be creative. You find that your mind/thoughts are not clear and your vision clouded by anxiety and fear. It is most difficult to focus and allow the good things/thoughts in. My only advice is, give it time and be patient with yourself. Step back and take a different look when ready. Do not feel guilty or neglectful about this. It's a process, just like any other journey.
You must take deep breaths in order to fully exhale. Be creative, be happy, be your true self in love and light and there you will find peace of mind.

My Life's Journey just took a sharp Left Turn.......
My husband never goes to the doctor, but he went for a complete physical last week for the first time in 5 years. What prompted him into making this appointment was his not getting over a bout with bronchitis, loosing about 20 pounds (without trying) and a few other issues.
The "call" came from the doctor's office yesterday with his test results. He has Type 2 Diabetes. We will be going back next week to start him on meds; be given a glucose meter, nutritional advice, and whatever else necessary to start our new journey. He's in a bit of denial, which is quite understandable. I am not surprised, given that fact that I myself had gestational diabetes while carrying my children and my dad has Type 2 Diabetes. I just had a "feeling", which I brought up to him before the test results came in. He told me that I was crazy because as far as he knew, no one in his family has ever had this disease. Well, now they do.
I must share with you, dear reader, just a bit of my history. After having my kids (in my thirties) and being on the heavy side (to be kind), the doctors told me to watch my weight and to quit smoking because I was in the high risk category for getting Diabetes in my forties. I have since taken off all the weight needed and have maintained my size for many years now. I have done this by completely changing my eating habits (which I will go into more depth in another post).
Simply stated, I do no eat anything out of a box (except pasta on occasion). No processed foods and the more veggies the better. My carbohydrate intake is quite low, yet I just about drink extra virgin olive oil. In a nut shell, I've been eating like a diabetic for many years now. As for the smoking, well, let's just say, that's all gonna change for the better.
My husband also smoked, until this morning. When he got home from work last night and after our long talk with each other and then with our children, I put into motion his new diet regimen. I did not want to wait for his appointment next week because his AC1 number what very very high as was his fasting glucose level.
This morning, I sent him off with 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast to replace his 2 daily donuts (he simply loves sweets). I also placed small healthy meals in his lunch bag and off he went, leaving behind his newly purchased carton of "smokes" on the kitchen table.
Now, there are a couple of ways in which you can "go" when life goes left. We could wallow, worry, and steep ourselves in self pity and despair. Or, we could do just the opposite and change directions from left to right, having the attitude that this new adversity presented to us will be looked upon as a gift of sorts. A reason to make life changes for the better. I have chosen to take control behind the wheel of misfortune and make a sharp right turn!
In doing so, these adverse circumstances will allow us all (the four of us) to live a happier and hopefully healthier lifestyle for the following reasons:
1. Better food choices for all! Remember, now my children have a grandfather, father (and a mother on the edge) with Type 2 Diabetes.
2. More exercise! This, I am not too thrilled with, as I am not too fond of the "E" word. Even though we have a complete gym downstairs (which with recent guidance from my dad on his last visit, my son, has become quite happy to do) and my daughter has her own gym membership at the local gym. Now to get me and my husband in gear, the slugs that we are.
3. More doctor visits for my husband and I! Yes, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet myself and start going for regular yearly physicals. My husband will unfortunately have to make routine visits for the rest of his life.
4. Quitting smoking! Let me first just say that we do not smoke all over the house. It's either an outside "job" or in the store room in the basement. I hate the smell of smoke and have never wanted my kids constantly surrounded by it's toxins. This being said, I will be struggling. I am hoping to get some kind of RX in order to help aid me through this eminent and most difficult personal/physical journey.
I share this recent event with you, dear reader, in order to hopefully assist you with your own physical/medical adversities at this time. You are not alone.. Please know that this is not the first, the worst, nor the last one I expect to have in my life here on earth. I wanted to show to you how and why I have decided to deal with this issue in the here and now. I also wanted to set a personal example of how I try to approach adversity.
Please walk with me in this decision to make that left turn right. To seek hope into what the future may bring and to have peace of mind in knowing we've made the "right" choices and the strength to make it through.
